About Us
Hi—we’re Evan and Jessica, the hearts (and hands) behind Hillside Harvest Homestead.
We’re self-proclaimed Disney adults, lifelong lovers of cooperative board games, and the kind of people who believe the best moments happen around a shared table. In 2023, we packed up our lives and moved to southern Oregon to try something different: a slower, more sustainable way of living, one rooted in the land, curiosity, and a lot of learning along the way.
Evan spent nearly 20 years in ministry before transitioning to homesteading full-time. These days, you’ll usually find him digging in the dirt, tending the garden, or dreaming up the next project. When he’s not outside, he’s likely buried in a book or unwinding with a video game.
Jessica just completed her PhD in Natural Medicine and brings a deep love of whole-food traditions to everything we do. She’s also a devoted fan of 1980s action movies, musical theater, and any excuse to turn on a soundtrack while baking.
What We Believe
- Food should be made slowly and shared generously
- Ingredients matter
- Baking is both an art and a form of care
Our approach is shaped by years of studying natural living and whole-food traditions, not trends, rigid rules, or perfection. Just thoughtful choices that honor flavor, balance, and the people we’re feeding.
We’re figuring out farm life one harvest at a time, and we’re committed to sharing it all: the wins, the recipes, the tips, and yes, even the failures. Because this is a journey, and it’s better when it’s shared.
We’re so glad you’re here. Pull up a chair, break some bread, and walk alongside us as we learn and grow.
In a world where we can be anything…let’s be hobbits.
